Re-Entry Permits: Dubai Residents’ Eligibility for Application after 6 Months Overseas

Date:

Discover the new opportunity for hundreds of UAE residents whose visas were canceled due to staying outside the country for more than six months. Thanks to the recently launched re-entry permit service by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP), returning to the Emirates has become possible.

Previously, residents faced the hassle of applying for a visit visa to re-enter the UAE after an extended stay abroad. However, the ICP has streamlined the process, providing a convenient solution for residents of all emirates, excluding Dubai. For Dubai visa holders, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) website takes care of the application process.

The process is straightforward, according to Abdul Gafoor, General Manager of Al Mas Businessmen Service. Applicants simply need to provide a letter explaining the reasons behind their prolonged absence from the country. Let’s explore the key requirements set by the ICP:

  1. Submit the application from outside the country.
  2. Apply for the permit after staying outside the country for 180 days.
  3. Once the application is approved, ensure entry into the country within 30 days.
  4. Justify the stay of more than 180 days with a valid reason.
  5. Expect a fine of Dh100 for every 30 days or less spent outside the country.

Please note that residents cannot directly apply for the re-entry permit on the ICP website. Instead, an agent must handle the application process. Sponsors have the convenience of applying for the permit at any Amer Centre.

Residents from all other emirates can easily access the service on the ICP website by selecting “Issue permit for staying outside UAE over 6 months” under the “smart services” section. Additionally, it may be necessary to provide supporting evidence and specify the reason for the extended stay.

Embrace the simplified re-entry permit service and seize the opportunity to return to the Emirates after visa cancellation. Experience a hassle-free process, ensuring a smooth journey back home.
